Hats off to Tarka Dawn, they're young lads with the right drive and motivation
to be successful. They've recorded and released The Plasticine Dreams EP through
their own label and got it on the shelves of two HMVs already.
When you look at the artwork you might worry (depending on your inclination) that Tarka Dawn
look suspiciously like an Emo band. When the EP kicks off with Amongst Little Hearts you'd
be absolutely right. The vibe, riffs and especially the vocals are massively Emo. With suitably
depressing lyrics discussing such topics as teen suicide, these tunes will appeal to the sort of
rich, white, middle class kids who hate their loving parents and stable, comfortable lives.
I mean Tarka Dawn are tight, they pick good melodies, they gel together well, but boys... come on,
bands were writing tunes exactly like this two years ago. Ultimately, nothing new and not an
exceptional take on something current.
