From the dark lights of North Manchester, Lost Calm assure us they will "play the soundtrack to our most beautiful dreams and deepest fears", and beg that their "passionate soundscapes" be heard in the largest of arenas.

Pretentious?

After reading these whimsical, yet bold statements about their music I was of the mindset that I wasn't quite vibing off them, and hoped that a listen might turn things around.

In some respects it did. Lost Calm are all excellent musicians and do indeed live up to some of their boasts. These are anthems, this is powerful, emotional music and I'd imagine Lost Calm could easily tap into the Snow Patrol, Coldplay side of the market.

With a style that can sound as fragile as porcelain one moment, then a thundering monsoon the next, this music does truly take you on a ride.

It has to be said, this isn't the sort of music that's gonna cheer you up, and I'd recommend ditching the fears and dreams malarkey and perhaps changing the description to: soundtrack to your first suicide attempt.

Just joking. Not a bad listen in fairness.

Those into their emotional anthems must certainly check Lost Calm out.
