If you'd followed Alice to the Mad Hatters tea party, and on the stereo was a mix of folk music, The Pixies, The Eels and Noah and the Whale, then you'd probably feel a bit like the latest single from Loqui feels - Strange (but in a friendly way).

Describing themselves as 'theatrical odd balls' Loqui bring to us a predominantly gentle, naive sound filled with melody and emotion. And I'd agree with Loqui in the fact that this music is theatrical of sorts, it certainly is a bit odd, but it's also dark and melancholy in places, especially B-side I Think It's Gonna Rain Today.

Hermes Pan is a little more light-hearted, though. I think the reason this reminds of NATW in the 5 Years Time era is that it really got that happy/sad vibe down to a tee. The fact that there's a lovely female vocal adding back ups, and more importantly a great contrast to the harder male vocal probably cements that sound-a-like all the more.

With brilliant instrumentation, great harmonies and a sound that does make you think twice, this is a single that's well worth a listen.
