Despite only being together for a year, Steel-City rockers The Hudares are here to show us that rock n roll is still alive,
current and important to today's music scene.
With a style that takes heavy inspiration from Oasis, Kings Of Leon, The Rolling Stones and life in general, The Hudares have
landed feet-first into a debauch pit of raw, energised, beefy rock n roll – And I have to say it's an enjoyable listen.
The problem is, that it all sounds a bit too familiar. I mean, the songs are well written, nicely arranged and impart the
feeling of real emotion to the listener, but for me it just seemed to lack that wow factor. And I don't want to put people
off, as it's decent music, but in parts it lacks originality, and with some tunes creeping towards and over the five-minute
mark, the musical scissors should definitely have made an appearance.
It's not all bad though. When it comes to my fave tracks on this EP I'd have to say it's a toss-up between Another Day Goes or
When I Wake Up.
Another Day Goes is an upbeat indie number with a right cheeky little guitar riff, a distinct indie/ska feel and a vibe
that's bound to cheer you up. When I Wake Up is a bit more serious, and sounds like it could have come straight off
Definitely Maybe (intended as a compliment). The drums build the tune up brilliantly in places with some real muscle-rolls,
which create a rock-solid backing for the aggressive, confrontational vocal style. I have to say again that the guitarist
is a talented chap indeed and in many places really makes this EP.
